Max Qian Non-Exe Chairman

Bringing more than a decade of experiences in the organisation management, property development and market strategies experiences, Max is true team business leader and respected entrepreneur. He has successfully led the team to acquire, design, sell and deliver a number of residential, commercial and hotel projects in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The total value of the projects delivered by Max is over $1billion AUD. 


Max excels at team management and business negotiations. Combining his exceptional corporate experiences and extensive industry network, he guides the Group to develop and implement the business strategies, as well assist the key clients to overcome challenges and issues. His deal structure capability is well recognised and respected by the property industry. He is able to identify risks and opportunities in property development transactions. Through working closely with the various stakeholders, he unlocks the potential in the site and creating values for the investors and clients. 


Max holds a Bachelor of International Trade and Master of Business Administration. He also holds directorship for listed companies in Asia. 

Steven Yu - Managing Director / CEO

Steven has extensive experiences in cross-boarder mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and property development management & financing. He was also previously the Chief Executive Officer of an ASX listed mining company Anchor Resources Ltd (ASX:AHR) and founding Managing Director of Longton Property Group. 


Before founding the Valorton Group, he worked as a practicing lawyer for Norton Rose Fulbright in Beijing and Melbourne, Deacons and Maddocks Lawyers in Melbourne. He was a key  member for the $1.4 billion hostile takeover of Midwest by Sinosteel which was awarded the deal of the year by the Internaiontal Financial Law Review. 


He holds a Commerce & Law degree from Melbourne University, Masters of Law degree from Boston University and EMBA degree from Columbia University and London Business School. He is admitted to practice law in China, Australia and United States. He currently also acts as the Chair of the Board for AHP Group (listed on SSX), non-Executive Director for Azure Health Technology and teaches Property Finance at University Technology of Sydney. 

Derek Pal - Development Manager

Prior to joining Valorton Group, Derek was a senior employee at Time & Place, a large Melbourne based developer. At Time & Place, Derek lead the development team on large scale projects including Park One; a $400M residential project, comprising 412 apartments in Macquarie Park; the luxury residential project, Essence, located in Double Bay and a 280 key lifestyle hotel on Wentworth Avenue, Surry Hills.


His previous roles at Peloton Group, Built and Infinity Constructions enabled Derek to garner considerable experience in Development and Project Management services, both construction and client- facing, across the commercial, retail and residential sectors.


Derek possesses a large and diverse network of contacts and is well regarded among peers within the property industry. He takes a hands-on role in the delivery of projects and works in a considered, detailed and deliberate manner.

Dr Eric Yao - Investment Director

With top-tier academic background in civil and structure engineering and a PhD degree from University of Sydney, Eric started his career as a structure engineer working on some of the world’s tallest high-performance structures for logistic properties. 


Moving on to property development, Eric so far has worked on multiple residential and mixed-use projects worth more than $1 billion, which includes 830 unit project in North Ryde, 9000 lot town centre site in Wilton, 180 unit project in St Leonards, and 200 unit project in Chatswood, etc. Those projects covers different stages including planning proposal, product development, DA, construction and settlement. 


Eric is also specialised in development land acquisition with an active approach towards strategy, research, feasibilities, tactics, agent management, direct vendor management and many more. A meticulous land identification methodology combined with a well-knit resource web and rigorous financial modelling ensures Eric bring the most valuable land to his clients.  

Andrew Chia - Tax Advisor & CFO

Andrew has over 15 years' experience in providing corporate tax advisory, R&D and compliance services. This has included senior tax accountant roles at ASX and internationally listed companies such as Cadbury, Schweppes, and Cochlear Ltd.

Andrew has worked on a number of high profile transactions, including acting as tax advisory for listed and private companies and developers. 


What sets Andrew apart is exceptional knowledge and skillset for setting up international tax structure to implement the most effective tax structure. His deep knowledge into various trust structure helps clients design a project structure to manage project risk and achieve optimum tax outcome. He takes a pragmatic approach and works with clients close to help companies create value through financial management and tax planning. 


He is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Fellow of the Tax Institute of Australia (Chartered Tax Adviser).
